Arrival at Lido, Venice

Waiting for Richard and Barbara to come to pick me up, I began to feel excited about this coming vacation. This would be a good break for me after my long stretch away from home. I was looking forward to have a good time in Croatia.
After meeting with Christie and Paul at their home, we all headed for the airport. We had an enjoyable flight. Even the dinner they provided seemed to taste good.
Daniel was already waiting for us at the Venice Airport. First we gathered information about water taxi and water bus fares to get to Lido. After getting our tickets, we dragged our luggage and ourselves over to the place where we would board on the waterbus not too far from the airport. The bus made several stops. It took over an hour before we finally arrived at Lido.
According to the map, our hotel Villa Mabapa should be within walking distance, so once again we each dragged on our luggage along the pebble stone roads. It was drizzling a bit, so we felt chilly and cold. It was quite a relief when we finally found the hotel and got ourselves settled in our rooms.
Later, we got out of the hotel again in search for a place to have a dinner. In one of the bigger street, we decided to try out a better looking restaurant where they served mostly Italian food. We ordered three pizzas and three dishes of spagetti for everybody to share. Since bottled water is quite expensive, so we ordered beer instead. The food was so so. When the bill came, there was an extra charge of 12 Euro that we couldn't figure out what was it for. Ah, upon inquiry we learned that over there they put a cover charge on each person. The charge will include tax and the cost of bread. The amount of the cover charge varies restaurant from restaurant. This one charges 2.oo per person while our hotel restaurant charges 5.00. On our walk back to the hotel, we ran into a Chinese restaurant. The whole place was packed with people. We thought this place must be good and decided that we would try it out tomorrow.
We were all tired out from our long flight, so we all had a good night sleep as soon as we got back to our room.
