Baby Jason's first Mothers' Day
Due to the First Baptist Church has a tradition of haviing everyone offering a corsage to his or her mother on Mothers' Day, in order to have both grandchildren and the whole family present Becky and I went early this Sunday to catch Mah Mah at the Cantonese Service. It was quite chaotic. The hall outside the santuary was filled with people looking for their mothers or waiting for their turns to get the corsage for their mothers. Mah Mah herself picked two flower, the purple one for me and the pink one for herself. She even put on a dress for this occasion. After picture-taking we sent Nicole back to Sunday School and let Mah Mah showed Baby Jason round to her friends. When the Chinese service resume, Mah Mah handed Jason back to us. Becky and I went to the Cry room where we usually attend our Sunday service. In the Chinese Session, a mother came forth to bear witness to God's mercy on her rebellious son. It was really touching. In the English service, we had a special presentation on songs about mothers. After service, Edwin who was at LA for April's graduation came to meet us. He promised to get together with us after his trip to Las Vagas.
As usual, Nicole went to Mah Mah's place. Becky decided to go out for lunch with Chris and their friends. I had the afternoon all to myself with Baby Jason. Carrying him in the baby carrier, I was able to eat some leftovers for my lunch and watch my Chinese DVDs. They returned around 3:00PM and went straight upstairs. Becky of course needed to pump her milk. Chris was so tired, he fell asleep right away. At 3:30 pm, Jason woke up. I fed him again. By 5:00pm daddy and mommy were still sleeping. I began worrying about dinner. The meat was still not quite defrosted. The dishes in the sink needed to be washed. I put Jason in the car seat and started working before he lost his patience. I managed to wash all the dishes, got the meat clean and cut, marinated them ready to be cooked. I felt less pressured, for at least I knew what to cook now. Next I put baby in the carrier again, hoping to continue washing and cutting the vegetable while carrying him. However, he kept crying and crying. I thought I better hold him so he could go to sleep. Becky came downstair to check why baby was crying. When she saw me holding him safe and sound, she turned around to go back upstairs. I asked her to hold the baby so I could cook. Jason was still fussing. I asked Becky to check to see if he had pooped and when she finished that I would take baby so she could go to pump again. Chris woke up and left to Mah Mah's place to get Nicole.
Baby Jason still awake and giving me a hard time. So I thought perhaps I should try going up and down the stairs to help him sleep. There I discovered Nicole standing towards the wall being punished. I was amazed that she understood what time-out means. She stood there singing but dared not move anywhere. Chris finally took her upstairs and took her temperature. She was running with fever again. I wonder what was wrong this time.
